Extending and remodelling listed buildings or buildings in conservation areas brings a new set of demands and challenges. Planning and Building Regulations requirements are significantly more restrictive and onerous in this sector. Much design and building work can be carried out by practices and individuals who are not chartered architects, but it is recommended that design work in relation to Heritage buildings should be undertaken by a chartered practice.
